This dataset analyzes how 25 Shopify direct-to-consumer (DTC) products appear across AI shopping assistants including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude. Each product was evaluated using simulated shopping prompts to measure visibility, attribute completeness, and platform-specific differences.
AI shopping assistants are reshaping how consumers discover and evaluate products. Unlike traditional search engines that return links, AI assistants generate natural language responses that include specific product recommendations, comparisons, and buying guidance. This research measures how visible Shopify DTC products are within these AI-generated shopping responses.
We analyzed 25 products from 15 established Shopify DTC brands across categories including luggage, athletic wear, footwear, skincare, home goods, and accessories. Each product was tested against realistic shopping prompts on four major AI platforms.
Products were evaluated using simulated shopping prompts such as "best carry-on luggage for frequent travelers," "best sustainable running shoes," "best organic skincare for sensitive skin," and "best cooling sheets for hot sleepers." Each product received scores for overall AI shopping visibility (0–100), per-platform visibility (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude), attribute completeness, and AI sentiment.
